Corrections Policy

How PrimeBiome Identifies, Fixes, and Discloses Errors in Its Content

PrimeBiome publishes educational content about gut health, digestive wellness, the gut microbiome, and dietary supplements. Health information evolves, and no publisher is free from mistakes. What matters is how errors are handled. This Corrections Policy explains how we find, evaluate, fix, and disclose corrections so that you can trust what you read here.

To learn more about who we are and how this website is funded, please visit our About Us page.

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy and Accountability

We commit to:

  • Correcting verified errors promptly rather than ignoring or hiding them
  • Being transparent about what changed and why, whenever the change is significant
  • Prioritizing health and safety issues over cosmetic or minor edits
  • Applying the same standards to all content, including promotional product overviews and affiliate content

Accountability for corrections rests with the editor described on our Editor Profile page, in line with the standards set out in our Editorial Policy.

2. What We Consider an Error

An error may include, but is not limited to:

  • Factual inaccuracies: incorrect statistics, misattributed studies, wrong dates, or misstated findings
  • Outdated information: statements that were accurate when published but are no longer supported by current research, regulations, or product information
  • Misleading or unsupported claims: language that could be read as a disease claim, a guarantee of results, or an exaggerated promise
  • Disclosure problems: missing, unclear, or poorly placed affiliate disclosures
  • Source problems: broken links, incorrect citations, or references that do not support the statement
  • Product information errors: incorrect ingredient lists, serving sizes, pricing, guarantees, or policies attributed to a manufacturer
  • AI-related errors: fabricated sources, inaccurate summaries, or other mistakes linked to AI-assisted drafting, as described in our Artificial Intelligence Use Policy
  • Typographical or formatting mistakes that affect clarity or meaning

3. How Errors Are Identified

Errors may come to our attention through:

  1. Reader reports submitted via our Contact Us page or as described in our Feedback Policy
  2. Editorial review, including scheduled re-checks of published content
  3. New research or guidance from authoritative bodies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, or the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH)
  4. Regulatory or advertising developments, including updates from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
  5. Manufacturer or seller changes to product formulas, labeling, pricing, or policies

4. How We Evaluate and Correct Errors

When a possible error is reported or discovered, we follow this process:

  1. Receipt and logging. The concern is recorded for review.
  2. Triage by severity. Issues involving health, safety, potentially misleading claims, or disclosures are prioritized over minor issues.
  3. Verification. The editor checks the statement against original and authoritative sources, including peer-reviewed research indexed in PubMed.
  4. Decision. We determine whether the content should be corrected, clarified, updated, or left unchanged.
  5. Correction. If an error is confirmed, we fix it and, where appropriate, add a correction or update note.
  6. Reply. Where the person who reported the concern provided contact details, we aim to let them know the outcome.

If a reported concern is not supported by reliable evidence, we may decline to make a change. Where possible, we will explain why.

5. Types of Corrections and How We Label Them

Not every change requires the same level of disclosure. We use the following categories:

CategoryDescriptionHow We Handle It
Minor editsTypos, grammar, formatting, or broken links that do not change meaningCorrected quietly; the “Last updated” date may change
ClarificationsWording changed to remove ambiguity, without changing the substanceUpdated, with the “Last updated” date revised
UpdatesNew research, regulatory changes, or product information that changes the contentUpdated, with a visible update note where the change is meaningful
CorrectionsA verified factual error, misleading statement, or unsupported claimCorrected, with a clearly visible correction note explaining what changed
RemovalsContent that cannot be adequately supported or has become misleadingRemoved or retired, with an explanatory note where appropriate

A correction note typically includes the date of the correction and a brief description of what was changed.

6. Priority Corrections: Health Claims and Disclosures

We treat the following as high priority:

  • Potential disease claims or unsupported health claims. We aim to remove or revise these as quickly as possible, consistent with the principles in the FTC’s Health Products Compliance Guidance and the FDA’s guidance on structure/function claims.
  • Missing or unclear affiliate disclosures. We aim to fix these promptly, in line with the FTC’s Endorsement Guides. Our revenue model is explained in our Monetization Policy.
  • Safety-related information. Errors that could affect a reader’s safety, such as incorrect cautionary language, are corrected immediately upon verification.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Products mentioned on this website are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

7. Corrections Involving Third-Party and Manufacturer Information

PrimeBiome is an affiliate publisher. We are not the manufacturer, seller, or distributor of any product featured on this site. As a result:

  • Product details such as price, availability, guarantees, and shipping terms may change without notice. We attribute such information to the manufacturer or seller and update it when we become aware of changes.
  • If you notice a discrepancy between our content and the seller’s official website, please tell us. For questions about orders, billing, or refunds, please contact the seller directly.
  • We do not alter or remove accurate, critical information about a product solely because of a commercial relationship.

8. Our Approach to Transparency

We do not delete or silently rewrite content to hide verified significant errors. When a correction is material, we explain what changed. Our goal is to protect reader trust, not to protect our image.

At the same time, we may make minor changes without a note (see Section 5) and we may retire outdated content. We will not retain content we can no longer support.

9. How to Report an Error

To report an error, please visit our Contact Us page and include:

  1. The page title or URL
  2. The statement or section you believe is incorrect
  3. What you believe is wrong, and why
  4. A supporting source, if available, such as a study, regulatory page, or official publication
  5. Your contact information, if you would like a reply

Please do not include sensitive personal health information in your message.

10. Medical Information and Emergencies

Our content is educational only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you believe that content on this website has led to a health concern, please consult a qualified healthcare professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or seek immediate medical care. Information about reporting adverse reactions to official authorities is available in our Feedback Policy.

11. Privacy

When you submit a report, we collect only the information needed to review and respond to it. For details about data handling and your rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), please read our Privacy Policy. PrimeBiome is written for English-speaking readers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Please verify information locally with official sources such as the U.K. Food Standards Agency, Health Canada, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries.
